Shameless Self-Promotion

As I mentioned in my first post, I have two online shops: one at Etsy and the other at ArtFire. Both shops have basically the same items on them at present.

My Etsy shop has been doing fairly well, but I'd like to fire up my ArtFire account as well, so here's a little gift to people who may be reading this blog:

From today until 05 November 2010, you can get 15% off your purchase in my Artfire Shop. Simply use the coupon code: BLOGREADER

Here's a link to my Artfire shop - MiGo Faster's ArtFire Shop

Here are just two pictures of the types of items you can buy in my shop:

Food & Wine: A Prelude

For the past several years I've been going to the EPCOT Center Food & Wine Festival. It's been a pilgrimage to spend tons of money to sample delicious morsels of food from around the world at my favorite theme park of all time (this has given me an idea for a future posting... hmmm...).

Food and Wine Festival 2007

My family and I have been going to the Food and Wine Festival since 2006, but I only got really into photographing it (and becoming somewhat obsessed) until 2007. I've usually gone at least 3 times during the month and a half long festival and still only been able to sample a few of the delicacies offered there.

I work for Walt Disney World now. I was working on the soft open (Preview day) for the festival and the first few days of its operation. Have I gone this year yet? No! I work in Future World and in all the days I was working, I never once went past the Fountain of Nations.

Why? Because I am crazy and tired, that's why. :(

Now there are only 18 days left of the festival. And I'm going to try to go at least three times this year. I'm planning on going this Saturday with my mother, husband, and son where we can hopefully meet up with my younger brother, who is currently in the College Program.

Colleen, Christina, Myself, and Ben Being Silly
On another day I plan to visit the festival with some of my dearest friends: Colleen, Ben, and Stephanie. Colleen, Ben, and I already have had one "Around the World Showcase Adventure" with Christina, but this will be our first Food & Wine together.

The other visit I will have to make will be a trip to see some people I have not thought about in a very, very long time....

HANSON!

That's right, HANSON of "Mmmbop" fame will be playing at the Food and Wine Festival on November 8 and 9. So needless to say I will have to attend one of those days, alone if I must. There will be pictures, and I will post them for all to see.

I will take lots of pictures and write about the delicious foods they are having this year. If it's anything like the previous years, it will be epic!

Hello World!

I've been a fairly avid reader of blogs but have never really considered myself "blog-worthy."  I decided today to shake off my feelings of insecurity and just go for it!

So welcome to my blog!

Who am I?
My name is Sara and I live in the Tampa Bay area here in sunny Florida.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology focused on Archaeology with a minor in Medieval History, started Master's degrees in Library Science and Anthropology, and have decided to try my hand at culinary school in the Spring 2011. To say I'm an eccentric jack-of-all-trades is putting it mildly.

I work for the local school system as a substitute teacher, working primarily in middle and high schools. I'm also a seasonal employee at Walt Disney World where I work as a presenter at Innoventions in EPCOT Center, which I picked up after completing the Walt Disney World College Program.

I come from a long line of crafters; both of my grandmothers were amazing seamstresses and artists and my grandfather was a wondrous woodworker. My mother taught me how to sew when I was a girl and I've been sewing ever since. I hope that one day I can be as awesome as she is (but I doubt that's possible!).

About what will I be blogging?
A wide variety of topics! I'm eclectic, eccentric, idiosyncratic, and other things ending in -ic.

I do have some online businesses that I am running, so there will be posts about my projects and things related to my shops on Etsy and Artfire. But constant sales pitches are, to be totally frank, awfully annoying. I'll try to keep those sorts of things at being no more than 2-3 times a week (even that seems like overkill now, but I can get enthusiastic at times).

I simply LOVE food! Cooking, restaurants, recipes, you name it, I adore it! So I'll definitely be dabbling in the culinary-type realm of discussion.

I'm also a nut for travel and world cultures (hence the whole spending far too much money on a degree in Anthropology thing), so I will definitely post about my travels, places I want to go, and so on.

Random Stuff! I admit it, I'm weird and have a variety of interests, so odds are there will be some random-ish posts about stuff that I happen to be thinking about at the moment.

So that's not too bad for a first post, I should imagine. It's somewhat weird to be essentially just typing to myself at this point, haha.
